The F2008 was unveiled to the public on January 6, 2008. It featured a new standard Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to comply with new regulations. The ECU removed most of the driver aids used in previous seasons, including traction control, engine braking and the electronically assisted starting system.
The car also weighs more than the F2007 season chassis due to rule changes including the gearbox, used in four consecutive races, and higher side protection around the driver’s helmet.
This unequalled model reproduces the version used in the 2008 European GP in Valencia. It was a great race for Massa who demonstrated to the world the Ferrari’s capacity to compete for pole position, fastest lap and race winner. The win catapulted Massa back to second place in the championship, ahead of teammate and World Champion Kimi Raikkonen who retired in the closing stages with a spectacular engine failure. A really thrilling model for all F1 fans and enthusiasts!
