The 312 T2 differed from the T version in that it had a slightly longer wheelbase and the periscope-style air intake was replaced with a NACA duct on either side of the cockpit to channel air to the inlet tracts. Featuring beautifully balanced engine and chassis and the usual transverse gearbox, in 1976 the 312 T2 enabled Lauda to win the Monaco GP
